IEPFA and SEBI Host First Investor Camp in Pune, Assisting Hundreds with Unclaimed Shares and Dividends

The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), organized its first 'Investor Camp' in Pune. The camp assisted investors in claiming unclaimed shares and dividends, updating their KYC details, and resolving related issues. A special investor guide brochure developed by NSDL was also launched at the event.

Objectives and Key Services of the Investor Camp

IEPFA, operating under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, launched the first 'Investor Camp' in Pune in collaboration with SEBI. This initiative aimed to provide financial literacy to investors and facilitate the speedy resolution of pending claims related to unclaimed dividends and shares. Approximately 450 investors from Pune and surrounding areas participated in the camp.

Dedicated service desks were set up at the event to assist investors in applying for unclaimed shares and dividends, updating KYC and nomination details, and expediting claim settlements.

Expert Guidance and Facilities

Representatives from market infrastructure institutions, registrars and transfer agents, and depository participants were present at the event. They provided information to investors on demat procedures, KYC updates, and the IEPF claim process.

Nineteen kiosks were set up at the camp, where trained officials guided investors through the application process. A search facility was also provided, enabling investors to locate unclaimed shares or dividends in their name or their family's name. After necessary verification, officials assisted in filling out the IEPF-5 form, simplifying the claim process.

Launch of NSDL Investor Guide Brochure

During the camp, Anita Shah Akela, CEO of IEPFA, and Anant Narayan, Whole-time Member of SEBI, launched a brochure titled 'Investors' Guide to Claiming Unclaimed Shares and Dividends', developed by NSDL.

This brochure provides detailed information in simple language about the process of claiming unclaimed dividends and shares, required documents, and common reasons for claim rejection.
