A heinous crime against a minor girl in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, has caused widespread pain and outrage across the state. Demand for swift and stringent action against the administration and the government is intensifying.
Patna: The rape of a minor girl in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, has sent shockwaves throughout the state. After meeting the victim's family, the state's Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) sharply reprimanded the administration, stating, "Whether it requires bulldozing or an encounter, I have no objections. The accused must be behind bars or underground within 12 hours."
Public anger over the incident was already simmering, and the DCM's blunt statement has instilled a new hope that the culprits will not receive any political protection.
When Silence Broke, Pain Emerged
The victim, a mere 14-year-old, was lured away and assaulted by a man from her neighborhood. The terrified child initially remained silent, but her family discovered the truth when her health deteriorated. A complaint was filed, but the accused remained at large due to the alleged inaction and hesitation of the local police. Only after the media highlighted the case did the administration take notice, prompting the DCM's intervention.
The Deputy Chief Minister's Emotional Visit to the Victim's Home
When the DCM visited the victim's home, the entire village gathered. He embraced the family, holding the father's hand and saying, "When a daughter is violated, the government cannot remain silent. Now, there will be action – real action, not a mere show." He instructed the officials on the spot, "I order that stringent action be taken against the accused within the next 12 hours. Whether it involves demolishing his house or an encounter if he flees, the state government will not back down."
Questions for the Administration, Pressure for Action
The DCM's anger was evident. He warned the Superintendent of Police (SP) and District Magistrate (DM) that any negligence by a police officer in this case would result in suspension. Action would be taken not only against the accused but also against the system. Subsequently, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, and three teams were deployed to search for the accused. The victim was sent to Patna for medical examination and counseling, where she is receiving psychological care.
The DCM's b response has sparked intense debate within both the ruling and opposition parties. While some have called it "political posturing," many others consider it an example of necessary leadership. However, there's a sense of relief among the locals. A village woman said, "We have never seen a leader so angry before. If we have leaders like this, our daughters won't be afraid."
