Following a purportedly controversial comment about Kannada songs, the case against singer Sonu Nigam has taken a serious legal turn with an FIR being filed. The Avalahalli police have issued a notice to Sonu Nigam, instructing him to appear for questioning.

An FIR has been filed against him for an alleged comment concerning the Kannada language, prompting the police to issue a notice for questioning. Amidst this, Sonu Nigam has released a video message on social media expressing his sentiments.
Police Notice and Investigation
Bengaluru police have sent Sonu Nigam a notice via WhatsApp, instructing him to appear before the investigating officer within a week. The police are investigating video clips containing the alleged comments, sending them to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to verify their authenticity.
Sonu Nigam's Clarification
In his video message, Sonu Nigam stated, "I have always shown immense love for the language, culture, music, musicians, state, and people, not only in Karnataka but anywhere in the world." He further added that he has given far more respect to his Kannada songs than songs in other languages, including Hindi, with hundreds of videos circulating on social media as proof.
He continued, "I am 51 years old, in the second phase of my life, and it pains me that my son, who is so young, sees me being directly threatened in front of thousands of people in the name of language—Kannada, which is my second language in terms of my work." Sonu Nigam explained that he had politely and lovingly told the individual that the show had just begun, it was his first song, and he wouldn't disappoint them, but they needed to let him continue the concert according to his schedule.

Sonu Nigam explained that every artist has a prepared song list to ensure coordination between musicians and technicians, but some people were engaged in creating a disturbance and intimidating and harassing him. He questioned, "Tell me whose fault is it?" Sonu Nigam stated that as a patriot, he detests those who try to spread hatred in the name of language, caste, or religion.
He stated that he has received immense love from Karnataka and will always cherish it without any malice, regardless of the decision. Sonu Nigam also mentioned in his video message that he has sung many songs in Kannada and has a special fondness for the language. He said he has always respected Kannada music and has received much affection from the people of Karnataka.
