Batting first, CSK posted a challenging 230/5 in 20 overs, and then, through excellent bowling, restricted Gujarat to 147 in 18.3 overs.
Despite this significant victory, Chennai had already been eliminated from playoff contention, finishing 10th with only four wins from 14 matches. While this defeat was embarrassing for Gujarat, they remained comfortably at the top of the points table.
Brevis' Blitz, Conway's Composed Innings
Chennai's innings began with Ayush Mhatre and Devon Conway, who put on a quick 44-run partnership for the first wicket. He finished with a stunning 57 off 23 balls, including four fours and five sixes, playing a crucial role in propelling Chennai to a substantial 230. In the final overs, Ravindra Jadeja provided a b finish with an unbeaten 21 off 18 balls. For Gujarat, Prasidh Krishna took two wickets, while Rashid Khan, R Sai Kishore, and Shahrukh Khan each claimed one.
Gujarat's Batting Crumbles Under Pressure
Chasing a mammoth 231, Gujarat Titans got off to a disastrous start. Captain Shubman Gill was dismissed for just 13, and the rest of the batting line-up struggled. Sai Sudharsan did manage a 41-run knock, but lacked substantial support. Players like Arshad Khan (20), Shahrukh Khan (19), Rahul Tewatia (14), Rashid Khan (12), and Jos Buttler (5) failed to deliver despite their reputations. The entire team was bowled out for 147 in 18.3 overs.
