Bangladesh cricket has seen a significant change in leadership. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das as the new captain of the men's T20 International team.

Liton will lead the team until the T20 World Cup in 2026. He replaces Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who resigned from captaincy across all formats citing a demanding international schedule. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been appointed as the vice-captain of the T20 team.
Liton Das previously led the team in a T20 series against the West Indies in December last year, and based on his performance, the board has now entrusted him with the permanent responsibility. The BCB has also announced the team for the upcoming T20 series against the UAE and Pakistan.
Nazmul Hossain Shanto Steps Down
This decision comes after Bangladesh's current captain, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, resigned from captaincy across all formats. He cited an excessive cricket schedule and mental fatigue as reasons for his resignation. The board needed a player who was not only experienced but could also provide b leadership to the team until the next World Cup. Liton Das was deemed suitable for this role.
