Fire Breaks Out at Gate Number 1 of Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain
Ujjain: A fire broke out on Monday afternoon at the Baba Mahakaleshwar Temple complex, a prominent pilgrimage site in India, causing panic among devotees. The fire originated in the Pollution Control Room located near Gate Number 1 of the temple, and the flames spread rapidly. A large number of devotees were present at the temple at the time, leading to a chaotic situation.
Fire in the Control Room
The incident reportedly occurred around 12 noon when a fire suddenly erupted in the Pollution Control Room (Pollution Control Room) situated near the facility center within the temple complex. The flames quickly intensified, filling the area with smoke. Upon receiving reports of the fire, the temple administration immediately alerted the fire brigade.
Fire Brigade Responds
Given the severity of the fire, multiple fire trucks arrived at the scene and commenced firefighting operations. However, the intensity of the flames made it challenging for firefighters to bring the blaze under control. The Ujjain Collector and SP also reached the site to assess the situation. The temple administration proactively closed Gate Number 1 to devotees temporarily to prevent any casualties.
Short Circuit Suspected as Cause
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be definitively ascertained, initial investigations suggest a short circuit as the likely culprit. A joint team from the police and electricity department is investigating the matter thoroughly, exploring the possibility of any technical malfunction.
Panic Among Devotees; Administration Appeals for Calm
With a significant number of devotees present for darshan at the time of the incident, the news of the fire led to a near stampede. However, the temple administration swiftly intervened, directing devotees to safe locations. The administration appealed for calm and urged people to avoid spreading rumors.
Temporary Impact on Darshan Arrangements
According to the temple administration, the incident did not directly affect the main temple or the sanctum sanctorum. The fire was confined to a technical unit near the facility center. Devotees are advised not to panic. However, entry through Gate Number 1 remains temporarily restricted.
