Amidst Rising India-Pakistan Tensions, Mehbooba Mufti Urges Dialogue, Warns of Nuclear Conflict
India-Pakistan Conflict: Amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti issued a grave statement. Mufti asserted that the war-like situation is devastating the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and military action is not a sustainable solution. She called upon the leaders of both nations to resolve the issue through dialogue.
Mehbooba Mufti stated that innocent lives are being lost due to this tension, and if the situation continues, the conflict could engulf the entire world. She also warned that both countries are nuclear powers, and the consequences of using nuclear weapons would be catastrophic.
Mufti appealed to the Prime Ministers of both countries to engage in dialogue on this issue. She believes that this moment requires a political solution, rather than military action.
Escalating Tensions in Jammu and Kashmir
Tensions have escalated following ceasefire violations by Pakistan in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The Pakistani army is targeting civilians, and the Indian army is retaliating. Recently, a Pakistani terrorist attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the death of 26 people. Following this, India launched Operation Sindur, targeting terrorists in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This action led to renewed cross-border firing by Pakistan, further exacerbating the situation.
Mehbooba Mufti's Warning and Suggestions
Mehbooba Mufti used this opportunity to warn that if the conflict between the two countries continues, it could be devastating not only for Jammu and Kashmir but for the entire world. Referring to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, she questioned, "Why is the blood of our children being shed?" and raised concerns about the ongoing loss of life in Jammu and Kashmir.
