No more steering wheels or buttons! Indian startup Nav-Elektro Mobility has achieved a remarkable feat, earning global praise for launching India's first fully voice-controlled electric car. This car is operated solely through voice commands: start, brake, gear shifting, navigation, music, air conditioning – everything is controlled by your voice! Remarkably, the system recognizes multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, and English.

How does the Voice Car work?

Nav-Elektro's revolutionary car features an AI-operated Voice OS (NAVI OS) that utilizes Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning to understand your commands and execute them in real-time.

Examples

  • Navi, start the car → Car starts
  • Navi, turn on power mode → Sporty drive activated
  • Navi, take me to Rajiv Chowk → Google Maps auto-activates
  • Navi, cool it down → AC turns on, temperature set to 20°C

Specification Glimpse

  • Range: 410 km/full charge
  • Battery: 70 kWh Fast-Charge (30 mins = 80%)

Why is this Indian innovation special?

While EVs are gaining popularity in India, this is the first time technology has been customized to suit the local language and culture. This car will understand both "Chalo bhai, chalo khet tak" (Let's go, let's go to the field) in villages and "Take me to Cyber Hub" in cities, says CEO Prashant Kulkarni.

  • After subsidy in some states: Up to ₹11.2 Lakh
  • Bookings Open: Navi App and Website

What are the potential risks and challenges?

  • Risk of voice control misfires in heavy traffic
  • Challenges in accurately recognizing voice commands in noisy environments
  • Building consumer confidence in a hands-free car
  • Transport department approval process (potentially lengthy in some states)
  • However, the company claims to have incorporated features like Noise Cancellation AI and an Emergency Physical Override button.

Now, just sit in the car and speak; it will do the rest! This Indian innovation is not just a car; it's a new era of driving. Driving is no longer just a skill; it's a voice command.
