14-Year-Old's Century Powers Rajasthan Royals to Record-Breaking IPL Victory

In the 47th match of IPL 2025, Rajasthan Royals achieved a feat never before accomplished by any team. The explosive century by 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi also made them the fastest team to chase a target of over 200 runs in T20 history.

Sports News: Rajasthan Royals not only secured a resounding eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the 47th match of IPL 2025 but also etched a significant record in the process. Batting first at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Gujarat Titans posted a challenging 209/4 in 20 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler.

In response, Rajasthan Royals, powered by Vaibhav Suryavanshi's blistering century, achieved a remarkable victory, reaching 212/2 in just 15.5 overs, with 25 balls to spare. This win not only kept Rajasthan's playoff hopes alive but also established a new record for the fastest chase of a 200+ target in T20 cricket history.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's Historic Century

At just 14 years and 32 days old, this young batsman from Bihar, making his debut, created a storm in his very first IPL innings, leaving the cricketing world astonished. Vaibhav scored a 101-run innings off just 38 balls, including seven fours and eleven towering sixes. His strike rate was 265.78, and he achieved his half-century in 17 balls and his century in 35 balls.

This century made Vaibhav the youngest ever batsman to score a century in IPL and T20 cricket history, surpassing Maharashtra's Vijay Zol, who achieved the feat at the age of 18 in 2013.

Record Partnership with Yashasvi

Rajasthan received a target of 210 runs, which they achieved in only 15.5 overs. The foundation for this chase was laid by a 166-run partnership between Vaibhav and Yashasvi Jaiswal, which became the highest partnership for any wicket in Rajasthan Royals' history. The previous record was held by Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal, who added 155 runs against Delhi in 2022.

Yashasvi also played a magnificent innings, reaching his half-century in 31 balls and remaining unbeaten on 70*. He was well-supported by Riyan Parag, who contributed a useful 32* runs.

Gujarat's Strong Start Undone

Earlier, Gujarat, after losing the toss, put up a massive 209/4 thanks to excellent innings from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan. Captain Shubman Gill scored 84 runs off 50 balls, while Buttler also played a 50* run innings. Sudarshan contributed 39 runs off 30 balls. For Rajasthan, Maheesh Theekshana was the most successful bowler, taking two wickets, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma each claimed one wicket.

Vaibhav Breaks Yusuf Pathan's 15-Year-Old Record

Vaibhav Suryavanshi also broke Yusuf Pathan's record for the fastest Indian century, set in 2010. Yusuf had scored his century in 35 balls, while Vaibhav achieved the feat in a mere 35 balls, claiming the top spot on this list. The overall record for the fastest century still belongs to Chris Gayle, who scored his in 30 balls in 2013.

Vaibhav also set another record by hitting 11 sixes in this match, becoming the batsman with the most sixes in an innings in IPL 2025. He surpassed Abhishek Sharma's record of 10 sixes, achieved against Punjab.

Point Table Upheaval

Following this victory, Rajasthan Royals moved up to eighth place in the points table with six points. Despite a net run rate of -0.349, this win has kept their playoff hopes alive. Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, suffered the consequences of the defeat and slipped to third place. Mumbai Indians benefited from this loss, moving up to second position due to a better net run rate. RCB remains at the top with 14 points.
