Mehbooba Mufti Expresses Outrage Over Farooq Abdullah's Statement
Mehbooba vs Farooq: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has once again directly criticized National Conference president and senior leader Farooq Abdullah. She termed his statement, expressing apprehension about local support behind the Pulwama terror attack, as "unfortunate." Mufti stated that such statements are targeting and wrongly treating innocent Kashmiri youth.
Questioning Farooq Abdullah's Statement
Farooq Abdullah, while speaking on the recent Pulwama terror attack, had said, "Such attacks are not possible without local help." Following this statement, Mehbooba reacted bly, stating that such statements are creating an anti-Kashmiri youth atmosphere.
"Bodies Returned from Police Stations"
Speaking to the media in Anantnag, Mehbooba Mufti cited two recent cases. She stated that Altaf Lali from Bandipora was called to the police station. He went with his sister; she was sent back, but Altaf's body was found days later.
Similarly, Imtiaz Magray from Kulgam was summoned by the army, after which his body was recovered from a river. Mufti angrily said, "If Kashmiris are cooperating, why are you returning their bodies? Is this how you win hearts?"
"Every Kashmiri is not Adil Shah"
Mehbooba Mufti compared Kashmiri youth to Adil Shah, who lost his life trying to save others. She said Kashmiris have repeatedly extended a hand of peace, but are receiving bodies in return. "Altaf has two young children, Magray has a younger brother... you are further widening the rift."
Appeal to the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre
Mehbooba appealed to the Lieutenant Governor for an impartial investigation into these cases and appropriate compensation for the affected families. She said, "If Kashmiri people are standing with you, then you also step forward; don't hurt them. Differentiate between terrorists and ordinary citizens."
