South Indian films Hit 3 and Retro are witnessing immense audience enthusiasm in theaters. Both films performed exceptionally well during their opening weekend and maintain a b hold even on weekdays.
Hit 3 Vs Retro Box Office Collection Day 5: Two major South Indian films, ‘Hit 3’ and ‘Retro’, are currently engaged in a fierce box office battle. Both films had spectacular openings, but after the fifth-day figures emerged, the scales seem to be tipping in one direction. SP Arjun's action-thriller ‘Hit 3’ has captivated audiences with its compelling narrative and thrilling plot, while ‘Retro’, despite its star cast and romantic action elements, appears to be lagging slightly.
‘Hit 3’ Continues its Dominance: Impactful Even on Day Five
The Nani and Shruti Haasan starrer ‘Hit: The Third Case’ created a storm at the box office. Grossing a remarkable ₹21 crore on its first day, the film kept audiences engaged throughout the weekend. Although there was a slight dip in earnings on Monday, the film still managed to collect ₹4.15 crore on its fifth day. The cumulative collection so far is as follows:
- Day 1: ₹21 crore
- Day 2: ₹10.5 crore
- Day 3: ₹10.4 crore
- Day 4: ₹10.25 crore
- Day 5: ₹4.15 crore
In total, ‘Hit 3’ has earned ₹56 crore in its first five days, making it the most successful chapter in the Hit franchise to date. Director Sailesh Kolanu's storytelling and fast-paced screenplay are considered major contributors to this success.
‘Retro’ Slows Down, but Hopes Remain
On the other hand, Surya and Pooja Hegde's romantic-action film ‘Retro’ also had a solid start at the box office. With a ₹19.25 crore opening on its first day, the film generated considerable expectations, but has seen a consistent decline since. ‘Retro’s’ cumulative figures are as follows:
- Day 1: ₹19.25 crore
- Day 2: ₹7.75 crore
- Day 3: ₹8 crore
- Day 4: ₹8.15 crore
- Day 5: ₹3.35 crore
Thus, ‘Retro’s’ total earnings have reached ₹46.50 crore by the fifth day. While this figure is not weak, it lags behind ‘Hit 3’ by approximately ₹9.5 crore. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film continues to receive a good response in the South market, but it appears slightly weaker than ‘Hit 3’ in terms of content and thrill.
‘Hit 3’ Wins the Battle, but Both Films Trail Behind ‘Red 2’
It's noteworthy that while ‘Hit 3’ and ‘Retro’ are engaged in a close competition, both films significantly trail behind Ajay Devgn's ‘Red 2’, which amassed ₹79 crore in five days. Therefore, ‘Hit 3’ and ‘Retro’ still have some ground to cover to reach that level. ‘Hit 3’ has drawn audiences to theaters with its b script, thrilling climax, and outstanding performances. Meanwhile, ‘Retro’ enjoys b support from Surya's fan base, but its slowing momentum is becoming a concern. The next few days could prove decisive for both films.
