He stated that he will leave a very small portion of his total wealth to his children, donating the remaining 99%. This substantial sum will primarily be used to strengthen health and education systems across Africa.
Gates believes that healthy lives and quality education are fundamental to development. He stated, "By investing in these two areas, we can empower people in Africa, enabling them to contribute to their nation's progress."
99% Donation, 1% for Children
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bill Gates' current net worth is $175 billion, projected to reach $200 billion by 2045. Gates clarified that only 1% of this estimated amount will be given to his children. The remaining 99%, approximately $198 billion, will be donated to charity.
This donation will be phased over the next 20 years. Gates described it as "an exciting journey," aiming to bring about socio-economic improvements in Africa through this initiative.
