Amit Shah Inaugurates New Central Forensic Science Lab in Kolkata

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a new building for the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in New Town, near Kolkata. This state-of-the-art facility will play a crucial role in strengthening the criminal justice system in West Bengal and Northeast India.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Saturday for a two-day visit to West Bengal. During his visit, he inaugurated the new building of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in New Town, near Kolkata. This new, advanced forensic lab aims to strengthen the criminal justice system not only in West Bengal but also in several states of Northeast India.

Furthermore, Amit Shah addressed BJP leaders and officials at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, where in-depth discussions regarding the party's strategy for the 2026 Assembly elections are expected to take place.

Significance of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory

During the inauguration ceremony, Amit Shah stated that the new CFSL building was constructed at a cost of approximately ₹88 crore. This laboratory will play a vital role in developing an evidence-based criminal justice system for West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Sikkim, and all the states in the Northeast. He explained that this forensic lab will help in handling complex criminal cases with speed and a comprehensive approach.

Shah also emphasized the necessity of utilizing science and technology to combat crime and enhance the justice process. He highlighted that the scientific equipment and technologies associated with this lab will simplify the apprehension of criminals and the investigation of crimes. This will not only control crime but also aid in proving the truth in judicial proceedings.

Amit Shah's Focus on BJP's Election Preparations

Following the inauguration, Amit Shah proceeded to the Netaji Indoor Stadium, where he addressed state-level BJP leaders and officials. According to party sources, the primary objective of this meeting was to discuss preparations and strategies for the 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal. Amit Shah will provide a roadmap to party leaders for the upcoming elections and emphasize disseminating central government schemes to the public.

Suvendu Adhikari, the West Bengal BJP state president, stated that Amit Shah's visit has not only boosted party morale but will also finalize new strategies to strengthen the BJP's hold in the state. The BJP performed well in the previous Assembly elections, and the party aims to come to power in the state in 2026.

Amit Shah's Visit Follows Prime Minister Modi's Visit

Amit Shah's visit comes just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent trip to North Bengal, reflecting the central government's keen interest in the state. Amit Shah will also visit Swami Vivekananda's ancestral home on Shimla Street in North Kolkata on Sunday. According to political analysts, this is Amit Shah's first visit after 'Operation Sindur,' signifying the BJP's increasing activity and election preparations in West Bengal. This visit serves as a message from the BJP that the party is fully committed to establishing a b presence in the state.

Upon Amit Shah's arrival at the Kolkata airport, he was greeted by West Bengal BJP state president Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition, senior party leaders Agnimitra Paul, Rahul Sinha, and other prominent leaders. These leaders extended a grand welcome to Shah, demonstrating unity and strength within the party.
