New Delhi: India has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to fighting terrorism through its delegations across various countries. On Monday, several Indian parliamentary and political delegations in the UK, Algeria, Malaysia, Spain, Egypt, Brazil, and other nations expressed solidarity in the fight against terrorism.
These delegations called for the eradication of terrorism, highlighting it as the biggest threat to humanity on the global stage. A clear message was conveyed to Pakistan that India will maintain a firm stance against terrorism and will not tolerate any wrongdoing.
Terrorism: A Global Threat and India's Commitment
In London, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, leading the Indian delegation, met with UK's Minister for Indo-Pacific, Catherine West. West confirmed Britain's support for India's counter-terrorism efforts and bly condemned the Pulwama terror attacks. The delegation held in-depth discussions on counter-terrorism strategies with leading think tanks in the UK. The delegation described terrorism as a global threat that must be eliminated at all levels in the interest of humanity.
A 'Zero Tolerance' Message in Algeria
A delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda, after visiting Algeria, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, delivered a clear message of 'zero tolerance' towards terrorism. Discussions on India's commitment to combating terrorism took place during a meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Algerian Parliament, Mohammed Khoun. Panda stated that terrorism is not linked to any specific country or religion; it is a crime against humanity that must be eradicated through collective efforts of all nations.
A Strong Message in Malaysia: Water and Blood Cannot Flow Together
In Malaysia, JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha stated, "Water and blood cannot flow together," reflecting India's firm resolve against terrorism. He met with leaders from various Malaysian political parties, explaining India's national policy on counter-terrorism. This delegation emphasized that tackling terrorism is not solely India's responsibility but a global concern.
Support from the Egyptian Parliament
An Indian delegation, led by NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule, held fruitful discussions with members of the Egyptian Senate and House of Representatives on cooperation and shared strategies against terrorism. The Egyptian Parliament reaffirmed its solidarity with India and emphasized strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
In Madrid, a delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi met with Spain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares. Albares expressed clear support for India's counter-terrorism efforts and his desire to maintain close strategic ties with India. The delegation detailed India's counter-terrorism policy and its challenges.
India's Active Role in Africa and South America
In Liberia, a delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde reiterated India's firm resolve against all forms of terrorism during interactions with the Indian community. Meanwhile, a parliamentary delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor initiated the fourth round of counter-terrorism talks in Brazil.
Delegation member Tejasvi Surya shared on social media that his trip was busy but highly successful, and he eagerly awaits further talks in Brazil.
Pakistan's role in terrorism was openly discussed during these meetings. India assured its global partners that it will not tolerate terrorism at any cost. India stressed that any form of terrorist support will not be tolerated, and Pakistan will be held accountable for it on all bilateral and multilateral platforms.
