Vijay Shah: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the alleged offensive remarks made by Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah against Army officer Colonel Sofia Kureishi has submitted its preliminary report to the Supreme Court. The SIT informed the court that the investigation is in its initial stages and requested more time to complete it.

What did the SIT say in its report?

The SIT reported that statements of 7 witnesses related to the case have been recorded. These witness statements, in video recording format, were sent to the Bhopal-based Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). However, due to a shortage of resources at the lab, the videos were returned without examination. The SIT also mentioned that the mobile phone of a journalist involved in the case has been sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for examination.

The SIT stated in its report that the investigation will require more time and requested an extension to submit the final report.
