Pakistan Tests Abdali Ballistic Missile: On May 3, 2025, Pakistan successfully tested the Abdali surface-to-surface ballistic missile, with a range of 450 kilometers. The test aimed to ensure the military's operational readiness and verify the missile's advanced navigation system and maneuverability.

According to the Pakistani military, the test's purpose was to assess their war preparedness and examine the missile's modern navigation system. This test was conducted under the Army Strategic Forces Command (ASFC).

Trial Conducted Under ‘Exercise Indus’

This missile trial was carried out during a military exercise codenamed ‘Exercise Indus.’ ASFC Commander Lieutenant General Muhammad Shahbaz Khan and the Director General of the Strategic Plans Division, Major General Shahryar Pervez Butt, were also present.

Impact of Tensions with India

This test comes at a time of heightened diplomatic and military tension between India and Pakistan. Following a terrorist attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22nd, India took several b measures against Pakistan. In response, Pakistan has been consistently issuing NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) for missile tests.

India's Response and Defense Posture

India has termed Pakistan's missile test a "provocative action." India ranks 4th globally in military strength, while Pakistan is ranked 12th. According to SIPRI reports, India's military expenditure is approximately nine times that of Pakistan.
