Bopanna and Pavlasek's French Open Run Ends in Pre-Quarterfinals

India suffered a setback in the men's doubles at the 2025 French Open in Paris. The impressive run of veteran Indian player Rohan Bopanna and his Czech partner Adam Pavlasek ended in the pre-quarterfinals.

Sports News: Rohan Bopanna and Adam Pavlasek's journey in this year's second Grand Slam, the French Open, concluded in the pre-quarterfinals. Rohan Bopanna and his partner, Adam Pavlasek of the Czech Republic, fought valiantly but couldn't overcome the second-seeded pair of Harri Heliövaara and Henri Kontinen. In this pre-quarterfinal match, Bopanna-Pavlasek lost to the Finnish and British team 6-2, 7-6.

First Set: Bopanna-Pavlasek Unable to Establish Early Dominance

From the outset, Bopanna and Pavlasek faced aggressive play from their opponents. Heliövaara and Kontinen swiftly secured the first set. They broke Bopanna's serve twice, establishing a commanding 5-1 lead. Although Bopanna-Pavlasek managed to save their serve later, they couldn't mount a comeback. The first set concluded in just 29 minutes, 6-2.

In the second set, Rohan Bopanna started impressively, winning the first game to love. Mid-set, the pair led 3-2 and successfully pressured their opponents' serve. Kontinen started the sixth game with a double fault, falling behind 0-30, but he recovered, winning four consecutive points to save his serve. This was a missed opportunity for Bopanna-Pavlasek.

Hopes Dashed in the Tie-breaker

Neither team managed a service break in the set, leading to a tie-breaker. Here, Heliövaara's powerful service returns and Kontinen's net presence made the difference. Despite some b rallies, Bopanna and Pavlasek couldn't secure the crucial points. Their French Open campaign ended with a tie-breaker loss.

Rohan Bopanna had been consistently performing exceptionally well over the past year, aiming for a Grand Slam title. However, a lack of synergy on the slow clay court of the French Open and a lack of aggression at crucial moments eliminated them from the tournament.

Performance of Other Indian Players

Meanwhile, India's Yuki Bhambri, partnering with American Robert Galloway, will play their third-round match against the ninth-seeded American pair of Christian Harrison and Evan King. This match remains another source of hope for Indian tennis fans. In the junior category, 17-year-old Indian player Manas Dhamne faced defeat.

He lost to Ronit Karkee of the USA 5-7, 3-6. Dhamne qualified for the main draw but did not perform as expected in his first match.
