WhatsApp Rolls Out Major Status Update with Collages, Music Stickers, and Photo Stickers

Meta has released new updates to enhance WhatsApp's Status feature, making it more engaging for users. Users can now add collages, music, and photos as stickers to their stories, resulting in more fun and creative statuses.

Technology: Amidst the ever-increasing competition in the digital world, Meta is continuously introducing new features to make its popular messaging app, WhatsApp, more user-friendly and interactive. Recently, WhatsApp unveiled several updates that bring the experience of Instagram and Facebook stories to the smaller screen. These updates will not only make WhatsApp's Status feature more attractive but also revolutionize the way users communicate and connect.

WhatsApp's New Layout Feature

The most significant feature of this new WhatsApp layout is the ability for users to share collages of multiple photos in their status. This feature mirrors Instagram Stories' layout option, allowing users to combine several pictures within a single frame, making their stories more colorful and vibrant. Previously limited to a single photo or video, WhatsApp Status now enables users to showcase their experiences through multiple photos.

Music Stickers and a New Style for Music Clips in Status

WhatsApp has also revamped the way music is used in Status. You can now share any song in your Status or use it as a music sticker. Since March 2024, WhatsApp has allowed adding music clips to photo statuses (up to 15 seconds) and video statuses (up to 60 seconds), but now it can also be posted as a sticker. This means viewers will experience your story with music in a more emotional and connected way.

The Ability to Turn Photos into Stickers

Another exciting update for WhatsApp users is the ability to convert any photo into a sticker and add it to their Status. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who want to create more creative and personalized stories. Along with this, WhatsApp launched a new "Add Yours" sticker, enabling users to initiate conversations on specific topics or themes.

Friends and family can share their Status updates in response to this sticker, broadening the conversation and strengthening social connections.

Emphasis on Privacy and Security

Meta has specifically stated that all these new Status updates are end-to-end encrypted. This means only those in your contact list can view your Status, ensuring user privacy and data security. Furthermore, the company has confirmed that these new features will be rolled out to all users in the coming months.

WhatsApp's Upcoming Username Feature

According to a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new Username feature in the iOS beta version 25.17.10.70. This feature will allow WhatsApp users to initiate chats without sharing their phone numbers. If you're concerned about privacy and don't want to share your number, you can now connect using just a username. This feature will be especially beneficial for those who want to keep their numbers confidential or create a separate identity for business purposes.

Enhanced WhatsApp User Experience

These updates clearly demonstrate WhatsApp's aim to evolve beyond a mere messaging platform into an interactive and creative social platform. Considering the popularity of platforms like Instagram and Facebook, WhatsApp is adding similar engaging features to its Stories to encourage users to spend more time on the app and connect with friends and family in a fun and engaging way.
