AAP accuses Delhi's Rekha Gupta government of failing to deliver on promises and shutting down schemes within 100 days. The government cited financial constraints and mentioned reviewing the schemes.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a scathing attack on the BJP's Rekha Gupta government in Delhi after its completion of 100 days in office. AAP alleged that the BJP government failed to fulfill its promises to the public. AAP leader Atishi stated that the Rekha Gupta government not only failed to implement the "Mahila Samman Yojana" (Women Respect Scheme) but also shut down several crucial public welfare schemes that had been running for 10 years in Delhi.

Questions raised on the Women Respect Scheme

AAP claimed that the Rekha Gupta government had promised to give ₹25,000 to women in Delhi, but by March 8th, no woman had received the money. The scheme was heavily publicized, yet no action was taken even after 100 days. This issue has reportedly caused resentment among women.

Promises of free cylinders and ₹500 gas also unfulfilled

The Rekha Gupta government promised free gas cylinders during Holi and Diwali, and gas cylinders at ₹500, but according to AAP, this remained merely a promise. Neither free cylinders were provided nor were gas prices reduced. This has reportedly caused financial hardship to lakhs of households in Delhi.

Electricity and water crisis

AAP alleged that electricity and water problems began in Delhi as soon as the BJP government came to power. During the previous 10 years of the Kejriwal government, there was a 24-hour electricity supply, but now there are prolonged power cuts. Water supply has also been disrupted. Many areas are receiving contaminated water, with complaints of sewer water mixing with the supply.

Uncontrolled increase in private school fees

AAP stated that private school fees have increased exorbitantly since the BJP government's formation. The Delhi High Court also acknowledged that the fee hike was unjustified, but the government took no action. The previous Kejriwal government had controlled the fees, but after the new government's arrival, schools have arbitrarily increased fees, causing distress to parents.

Mohalla Clinics and Farishte Yojana shut down

AAP alleges that the Rekha Gupta government has started shutting down healthcare services like Mohalla Clinics, launched for the people of Delhi. This is reportedly causing difficulties for poor and middle-class people in accessing treatment. The Farishte Yojana, which provided free treatment to road accident victims, has also been discontinued, putting lives at risk.

Pollution havoc

Delhi's pollution levels have also become a matter of concern in the 100 days of the Rekha Gupta government. AAP stated that for the first time in summer, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) crossed 500, which is an extremely dangerous level. The government's negligence has been blamed for this.

AAP's report card: Government failed on 15 issues

AAP released a report card for the Rekha Gupta government's 100 days, listing 15 failures. These include electricity crisis, water problems, school fees, deteriorating healthcare services, pollution, failure of the Women Respect Scheme, unfulfilled gas cylinder promises, and ignoring the basic needs of the public.

BJP's response: Previous government emptied the treasury

The Rekha Gupta government, on behalf of the BJP, rejected AAP's allegations. They stated that the previous Kejriwal government had emptied Delhi's treasury, which is causing delays in implementing schemes. The government also stated that work will soon be undertaken on schemes like the Women Respect Scheme, Ayushman Bharat, and school audits.
