As part of its organizational restructuring drive, the Congress party has released a list of observers for Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. These observers will be responsible for strengthening organizational activities at the district level in both states.

New Delhi: In a significant step towards organizational strengthening, the Congress party has accelerated the process of appointing district presidents in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. The party has appointed 71 observers for changes within the District Congress Committees in both states under its organizational creation campaign. This includes 50 observers for Madhya Pradesh and 21 for Haryana.

This exercise is part of the party's larger strategic plan to empower its grassroots organization for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and upcoming assembly elections.

Selection Based on the Gujarat Model

According to Congress sources, the entire process will be based on the model adopted in Gujarat, where the party appointed new presidents after extensive consultations at the district level. This system is now being implemented in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. Under this, observers will visit the respective districts, gather feedback from local leaders, workers, and officials, and then deliberate on potential names before submitting their report to the high command.

50 Candidates in the Field for Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh, the party has appointed 50 senior leaders as observers. This list includes experienced and young leaders from various states, prominent among them being Saptagiri Shankar Ulaka, Gurdeep Singh Sappal, Giduugu Rudra Raju, Yasho mati Thakur, Aradhana Mishra 'Mona', Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Bhai Jagtap, Ajjoy Kumar, Raghu Sharma, Krishna Tirath, Anil Chaudhary, and Murari Lal Meena.

These leaders will be sent to districts where organizational changes are most needed. According to party sources, the aim is to complete this process by the end of June so that the new team can start work on time.

Winds of Change in Haryana as Well

In Haryana, the Congress has formed a team of 21 leaders who will play a key role in the appointment of district presidents. This list includes Manikam Tagore, Varsha Gaikwad, G.C. Chandrasekhar, Lalji Desai, Jai Singh Agarwal, Rafique Khan, Kuljeet Singh Nagra, Vijay Inder Singla, and Challa Vamsi Chandra Reddy. The Haryana Congress has been grappling with factionalism and leadership dissatisfaction for some time. The appointment of new district presidents is therefore considered crucial in balancing and strengthening the organization. The Congress high command wants to give grassroots workers a greater share in leadership.

Campaign Under the Direct Supervision of Kharge

It is understood that this entire campaign is being conducted under the direct supervision of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. He has given clear instructions to party general secretary K.C. Venugopal and state in-charges to maintain transparency and impartiality in appointments. This time, the party leadership is considering appointing active workers connected with the public as district presidents, instead of relying solely on old leaders.

Political analysts believe that this Congress initiative could give a new direction to the party's performance in both states. In Madhya Pradesh, where the party is seeking new energy after a recent assembly election defeat, and in Haryana, the Congress needs a new ground-level strategy and faces to compete with the BJP-JJP alliance.
