Meanwhile, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spoke with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the phone. It is believed that their conversation focused on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, particularly the Pahalgam attack. Discussions likely also included strategic cooperation and regional security.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had spoken with seven non-permanent members of the UNSC (United Nations Security Council). India has begun to make it clear internationally that Pakistan's policy on terrorism will no longer be tolerated.
PM Modi Grants Full Operational Freedom to the Armed Forces
Following the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting including the Defense Minister, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS, and the chiefs of the three armed forces. In this meeting, the Prime Minister announced full operational freedom for the armed forces – meaning the Indian Army will now determine its own timing and targets.
