Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks on 15 Indian military bases. The Indian Army thwarted the attacks and, in retaliation, destroyed Pakistani air defense systems.
Attack: On the night of May 7-8, 2025, Pakistan attempted a large-scale terrorist operation targeting Indian military installations. Using drones and missiles, they attempted attacks on Indian military bases in 15 major cities, including Srinagar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Nal, Falaudi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj.
The Indian Army's UAS grid and air defense systems successfully thwarted all these attempts. Debris from the attacks has been recovered from several locations, confirming the Pakistani attacks.
India's Retaliation
The Indian Armed Forces responded decisively, retaliating with the same intensity and approach. The Indian Army targeted several Pakistani air defense radars and missile systems. Sources indicate that an air defense system located in Lahore was completely disabled.
India has clarified that this action was taken in self-defense and as a military response. India's aim is not to escalate the conflict, but to ensure the safety of its citizens and military installations.
Pakistan's Firing on the LoC
Additionally, Pakistan engaged in heavy shelling along the Line of Control (LoC). Mortar and heavy artillery fire in areas such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, and Mendhar resulted in the deaths of 16 innocent Indian civilians, including three women and five children.
India's Stance
The Indian government and army have reiterated that India does not desire war, but will not remain silent if its sovereignty is attacked. The Indian Army's clear message is: "We do not want escalation, but we know how to respond."
India has also stated that its response was limited to military retaliation and did not target any Pakistani military headquarters.
