India suspends domestic flights at 32 airports until May 14th due to escalating border tensions with Pakistan. This measure has been implemented for security reasons.

Airport Closures in India: In light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has extended the suspension of domestic flights at 32 Indian airports until 5:29 AM on May 14th. This precautionary measure, implemented for security reasons, includes airports in border and sensitive areas.

Affected Airports

Several major airports are affected by this suspension, including those in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Flights from these airports are temporarily grounded. The affected airports include:

Punjab: Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda, Halwara, Pathankot

Himachal Pradesh: Bhuntar, Shimla, Kangra-Gaggal

Union Territory of Chandigarh: Chandigarh Airport

Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh: Srinagar, Jammu, Leh Airport

Rajasthan: Kishangarh, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner

Gujarat: Mundra, Jamnagar, Hiranagar, Porbandar, Keshod, Kandla, Bhuj

Airline Response

Air India and IndiGo have cancelled flights to and from these affected airports. IndiGo has provided links for customers to check flight status, rebook, or obtain refunds. Passengers are also requested to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to their scheduled departure to allow ample time for security checks.

Security Measures and Travel Advice

Security has been heightened at all airports in response to the escalating tensions with Pakistan. Secondary Ladder Point Checks (SLPC) are mandatory for all passengers, and visitor entry is completely restricted. Air marshals are also being deployed. Airlines advise passengers to arrive at the airport well in advance to ensure a smooth security process.
