Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accuses the Central Government of negligence in Pahalgam terror attack.
Pahalgam Attack: In Ranchi, Jharkhand, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge leveled serious accusations against the central government. He stated that intelligence agencies had sent reports to PM Modi three days prior to the Pahalgam terror attack, leading to the cancellation of his Kashmir visit. However, he questioned why, despite receiving prior warning, adequate security measures weren't implemented in Pahalgam?
Intelligence Report Received Three Days Prior
Kharge explicitly questioned why security measures weren't strengthened when the government possessed intelligence information. He alleged that the central government's significant lapse in security resulted in the loss of 26 lives in the April 22nd terror attack. Kharge stated, "Why weren't security arrangements made? Why didn't you take concrete steps when you had the information?"
Congress President's Stern Question: Isn't the Government Accountable?
Kharge also asserted that the government should be held accountable for the attack. He argued that it wasn't merely an intelligence failure but a consequence of the government's negligence in ensuring security. He stated that since the government itself acknowledges the lapse, shouldn't it take responsibility for the deaths of those 26 innocent people?
PM Modi's Kashmir Visit Cancelled
Kharge raised further serious questions regarding the incident. He asked why, if PM Modi's Kashmir visit was cancelled due to security concerns, the government didn't pay equal attention to securing tourists. He questioned, "Modi Ji cancelled his visit, but why weren't any security arrangements made for the tourists present there?"
Congress's Support for India's Security
However, Kharge clarified that the Congress party stands with the central government in the fight against Pakistan. He emphasized that this isn't just a political issue but a matter concerning national security, and Congress will fully support the government on this matter.
Mallikarjun Kharge's Criticism of the Central Government
The Congress president stated that this incident raises serious questions about the government's intelligence gathering and security arrangements. He further questioned why, knowing the threat, the government didn't implement immediate security measures.
Kharge further stated, "If there was an intelligence report, did those lives have no value? Shouldn't the central government be held responsible for their deaths?" He argued that since the government admitted to an intelligence failure, it should accept responsibility for the attack.
Congress President's Remarks on Kashmir Visit
Mallikarjun Kharge also mentioned that PM Modi's Kashmir visit was cancelled after receiving intelligence reports three days prior. He stated, "We learned from the media that PM Modi's visit was cancelled because of the reports. Now the question is, if this report was accurate, why didn't the government take other security measures?"
