Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on his first visit to his home state of Gujarat after Operation Sindur. On May 26th and 27th, he will participate in several significant events across Gandhinagar, Kutch, and Dahod districts.
Gandhinagar: Following Operation Sindur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is returning to his home state of Gujarat for the first time. He will participate in various programs organized in Gandhinagar, Kutch, and Dahod districts on May 26th and 27th. The Prime Minister will address a public gathering on Mirjapar Road in Bhuj and subsequently visit the Matano Madh Ashapura Temple.
Significantly, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the first 9000 HP locomotive engine manufactured at the newly established railway production unit in Dahod, built at a cost of ₹20,000 crore.
A New Era for Railway Production in Dahod
The Dahod railway factory is built on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. This unit will produce approximately 1200 locomotive engines over the next 10 years. These engines will not only be used throughout India but also exported internationally in the future. Entirely manufactured under the 'Make in India' initiative, it showcases India's technological self-reliance.
This 9000 HP locomotive engine is a 6-axle engine capable of hauling cargo weighing up to 4600 tons. A notable feature is the inclusion of an air-conditioned (AC) cabin and toilet facilities for the crew – a first. Pre-installed crash protection systems further enhance safety. The locomotive's average speed is 75 kilometers per hour.
Boosting the Local Economy and Employment
This project will play a crucial role in the economic progress of Dahod and surrounding areas. The factory will directly and indirectly provide employment to approximately 10,000 people. Furthermore, the construction and operation of this unit will provide opportunities for numerous small and medium-sized industries, particularly in the power and engineering sectors, to supply various goods and services. This will not only open new avenues for employment but also strengthen the local economy.
Maintenance of the locomotives manufactured in Dahod will be carried out across various parts of the country. Key centers will include Kharagpur (West Bengal), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), and Pune (Maharashtra). This will improve the operation of the rail network nationwide and enhance engine reliability.
Significance of Prime Minister Modi's Visit
Prime Minister Modi's visit to Gujarat is not only a significant step towards regional development but will also bolster India's Make in India mission. His return to his home state after Operation Sindur has generated considerable enthusiasm among the citizens. His visit to the Matano Madh Ashapura Temple in Kutch after the public gathering holds spiritual and emotional significance for him.
