PM Modi's Gujarat Visit: Colonel Kureishi Family Honors Him Amidst "Operation Sindur" Celebrations

This visit was particularly significant as it was his first to the state following 'Operation Sindur,' adding to its importance. A large crowd gathered during the roadshow, welcoming Prime Minister Modi with a shower of flowers.

The family of Colonel Sofia Kureishi, a participant in Operation Sindur, was also present on this special occasion. Their presence infused the atmosphere with emotion and pride.

Colonel Sofia Kureishi: Daughter of the Nation

Colonel Sofia Kureishi is one of two female officers of the Indian Army who briefed the media during 'Operation Sindur.' This operation involved precise Indian military action against terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, carried out on May 7, 2025.

During the roadshow, Colonel Sofia's parents, Taj Mohammad and Halima Bibi, showered Prime Minister Modi with flowers. Taj Mohammad stated, "For us, the nation comes first, then religion and caste. Prime Minister Modi recognized us and greeted us. We also respectfully greeted him." Halima Bibi added, "I was delighted to meet PM Modi. Women and sisters are happy with 'Operation Sindur.'"

Twin Sister's Reaction

Colonel Sofia's twin sister, Shaina Sunsara, said, "As a woman myself, I can feel how much Prime Minister Modi has empowered women. Sofia Kureishi is my twin sister. This is very encouraging. Now Sofia is not just my sister; she has become a sister to the entire nation."

In his address, Prime Minister Modi described the success of 'Operation Sindur' as a symbol of the power of 'Made in India' weapons. He stated that this operation not only achieved military success but also proved to be a significant step towards a self-reliant India.
