Shashi Tharoor Rejects Donald Trump's Claim of Mediating Between India and Pakistan. India's Foreign Policy Emphasizes Transparency and Dialogue, Not Formal Mediation.
Shashi Tharoor: India has once again firmly and clearly rejected US President Donald Trump's repeated claims of mediating between India and Pakistan. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, responding to Trump's statement, said India has neither initiated nor accepted any formal mediation process. He clarified that contact from another country seeking information about India's policies does not constitute mediation.
Dialogue, Not Mediation: India's Stance
Shashi Tharoor stated, "If a country calls us, talks to us, and we explain our actions, is that formal mediation? My answer is no. India's policy has always been clear: we are transparent and open to dialogue, but we do not accept formal mediation in any dispute."
Team India's Global Mission
A special delegation from India, led by Shashi Tharoor, has embarked on a foreign trip. The mission aims to expose Pakistan's nefarious intentions and terrorism on the global stage. Tharoor's group includes MPs from the LJP, JMM, TDP, BJP, and Shiv Sena. This delegation will visit the USA, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, and Colombia.
Tharoor said, "We are going to present a united voice on behalf of India. National unity on foreign policy is crucial, and that's the message we will convey to the world."
'Claims of Mediation are Baseless'
Tharoor clarified that India has never granted the US or any other country the authority to mediate between India and Pakistan. He stated, "When our Foreign Minister speaks with a counterpart from another country, it is publicly shared on social media. What greater transparency could there be?"
Tharoor emphasized that India's foreign policy remains unchanged. If a leader contacts us, we share our perspective, but this does not imply that we are engaging in formal mediation with them.
Unity Beyond Parliament is Essential
Tharoor stated that during foreign visits, MPs represent India, not their respective parties. He said, "When we are on the international stage, we are representatives of the nation, not of any political party. Discussions about domestic politics belong in parliament and on the national stage, not on foreign platforms."
Trump's Claims: 'I Did, But I Don't Want to Say...'
In his recent statement, Donald Trump claimed that the US helped broker a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, facilitated through trade negotiations. However, he offered no concrete evidence. Trump said, "I don't want to say I did, but I helped." The Indian government has explicitly rejected Trump's statement. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan is a result of direct communication between military officials, and no third party played any role.
India's Foreign Policy
India's foreign policy has always been based on the principles of self-reliance and direct dialogue. India has always kept open channels of communication for peace and cooperation with its neighboring countries, but has never permitted a third country to intervene in its disputes.
