Ongoing Sparring Between Udit Raj and Shashi Tharoor After Pulwama Attack

Shashi Tharoor vs Udit Raj: Tensions within the Congress party have intensified. A war of words has erupted between party leaders Udit Raj and Shashi Tharoor following the Pulwama terror attack. Udit Raj has questioned whether Shashi Tharoor's consistent praise of Prime Minister Modi and criticism of the Congress party stem from fear of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Income Tax Department.

The Aftermath of Pulwama

Commenting on the Pulwama attack, Shashi Tharoor defended the central government, stating that "no country can have 100% intelligence." This statement prompted Udit Raj to question Tharoor's political allegiance. Tharoor retaliated by reminding Udit Raj of his past association with the BJP, suggesting he should understand who speaks for the BJP.

Udit Raj's pointed questions to Shashi Tharoor

On Monday, Udit Raj launched a scathing attack on Shashi Tharoor, asking:

"Is Shashi Tharoor afraid of the ED, CBI, and the Income Tax Department?"

He further accused Tharoor of consistently defending the Modi government and seeking opportunities to criticize the Congress. Udit Raj challenged Tharoor, asking how many protests he has participated in and how many arrests he has faced.

Questions Raised About Meeting with Donald Trump

Udit Raj also taunted Tharoor, referencing his meeting with Donald Trump in the US, during which Tharoor reportedly praised Prime Minister Modi. Raj questioned the specifics of that meeting that led to Tharoor's endorsement of Modi.

Udit Raj stated:

"If Trump at that time called BRICS nations cowardly, then Mr. Tharoor should clarify his position now."

Growing Rift Within Congress

Udit Raj's attack comes after Shashi Tharoor supported the government's response to the Pulwama attack, stating that "instead of blaming the government, we should unite and face the problem at this time." Tharoor cited Israel as an example, saying that "even the world's best intelligence agencies cannot prevent every attack."
