Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, in a departmental review meeting held at his official residence on Monday, gave strict instructions to administrative officials, emphasizing good governance as the highest priority for the state. During the meeting, he paid special attention to corruption, illegal religious conversions, encroachment, and the security of border areas, delivering a clear message that negligence in these matters would no longer be tolerated.
Chief Minister Dhami stated that the state government is working on the principles of transparency and accountability. He urged officers to accelerate ground-level work to meet the expectations of the public.
Strict Stance on Corruption, Immediate Action
Speaking specifically on corruption, CM Dhami stated that it is the biggest impediment to development and that its eradication is a commitment of his government. He instructed officials to immediately investigate complaints related to corruption and take strict action against those found guilty. He also stated that if any officer at any level is found involved in corruption, accountability will be fixed. He added that maintaining public trust in the government is only possible with swift and impartial action against corrupt practices.
Vigilance and Monitoring of Religious Conversions
On the issue of religious conversions, the Chief Minister sought a report from the officials on the action taken so far and stated that any attempt at illegal conversion would not be tolerated. He said that continuous surveillance should be maintained on suspicious activities and that legal action should be ensured without delay wherever illegal activities related to religious conversion are found.
Dhami also emphasized strengthening the verification campaign further, stating that "anyone or any institution that induces people to convert through illegal means will be strictly monitored, and those found guilty will be severely punished."
No Lethargy in Anti-Encroachment Actions
Reviewing the ongoing anti-encroachment campaign in the state, the Chief Minister said that this campaign should not only continue but also be conducted more effectively. He instructed officials that there should be complete monitoring to prevent re-occupation of lands freed from encroachment.
The CM also spoke about paying special attention to enemy properties and said that reports related to their encroachment should be prepared quickly so that further strategy can be formulated.
Transparency Essential in Document Verification Process
The Chief Minister instructed that complete transparency and vigilance should be maintained in the process of Aadhaar cards and other government documents. He said that no documents should be issued without proper identification and verification. In this context, he also spoke about assigning responsibility to the concerned departments. CM Dhami also emphasized the security arrangements in the border areas.
He said that intensive checking campaigns should be conducted in the border areas and immediate action should be taken upon receiving information about any illegal activity. Any suspicious activity such as anti-national activities or smuggling in the border area should be acted upon immediately. The Chief Minister urged officials to go among the people, understand their problems by staying in the field, and resolve them. He also clarified that making the administration accountable, sensitive, and responsible towards the public is the true hallmark of good governance.
