Mahesh Joshi has been accused of a scam in the Jal Jeevan Mission, and the ED arrested him four days prior to this incident.
Kaushal Joshi was battling illness
According to media reports, Kaushal Joshi had been unwell for quite some time. She suffered from a brain hemorrhage. She was admitted to a private hospital in Jaipur a few days ago after a sudden deterioration in her health. She passed away on Monday morning. Her death has sent shockwaves through political circles.
Mahesh Joshi was in ED custody
Mahesh Joshi was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission. This family tragedy struck four days after his arrest. Following the news of his wife's death, Mahesh Joshi's lawyer, Deepak Chauhan, filed an interim bail application in the special court.
The court accepted the plea on humanitarian grounds and granted him four days of interim bail to attend his wife's funeral.

Mahesh Joshi is accused of corruption during his tenure as a minister in the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission.’ This scheme, run by the central government, aims to provide clean drinking water to every household in rural areas. The ED suspects financial irregularities in the contracts and payments related to this scheme.
Based on these allegations, the ED registered a money laundering case against Mahesh Joshi and took him into custody. The process of documentary investigation and interrogation is ongoing against him.
Congress and opposition leaders express grief
Senior Congress leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mahesh Joshi's wife. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra, and several other leaders issued condolence messages. Senior BJP leader and former Leader of the Opposition Rajendra Rathore also visited Mahesh Joshi's home and paid his respects.
