Indus Waters Treaty: Pakistan has reacted bly to India's temporary suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Following an earlier stern warning from Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistani parliamentarian Syed Ali Zafar described the action as a "water bomb," highlighting the grave danger it poses. He stated that a failure to resolve this water dispute could result in widespread famine in Pakistan.

The Indus Waters Treaty and Subsequent Situation

The Indus Waters Treaty, a significant water-sharing agreement between India and Pakistan, was signed in 1960. It allocated the waters of the Indus River and its tributaries, granting India control over the eastern rivers and Pakistan control over the western rivers. This treaty has been a source of tension and disputes between the two countries on numerous occasions.
