Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased following the Pulwama attack. Meanwhile, Pakistani experts have made the controversial claim that Narendra Modi will remain Prime Minister of India until 2034. This assertion comes from former Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit and expert Kamran Cheema.
New Delhi: Amidst the recent rise in tensions between India and Pakistan, several prominent Pakistani experts have surprisingly praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies and leadership. Former Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit and expert Kamran Cheema portrayed Narendra Modi as a powerful and stable leader whose leadership will benefit the country for years to come. These experts claimed that no one can remove Narendra Modi from his leadership position in India until 2034.
Basit's Praise for PM Modi
Abdul Basit, the former Pakistani High Commissioner, known for his generally anti-India rhetoric, surprisingly commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He praised Modi's recent "Mann ki Baat" radio address, highlighting the impact of Modi's speeches. He stated that Modi's nationalistic approach and energy have provided stability to Indian politics.
Basit stated, "If you ask me how long I see Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, I'd say until the next election in 2029, and I don't see any challenge. He's still politically active with full energy, and the opposition lacks a compelling leader to challenge him."
Comments on Rahul Gandhi
Abdul Basit also commented on opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, stating that Gandhi lacks the leadership qualities expected of a major leader. He further added that the Congress party and other regional parties, such as those led by Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee, and the Samajwadi Party, are not in a position to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the national level.
Modi's Dominance Until 2034
Kamran Cheema, a prominent Pakistani strategic expert, also shared his views on Modi's leadership and claimed that Narendra Modi will remain Prime Minister until 2034. Cheema advised the Pakistani government to understand India and Modi's approach, emphasizing Modi's clear and firm stance towards India.
He said, "The Pakistani government wasted a lot of time trying to understand Modi. Modi became Prime Minister in 2014 and visited Pakistan only once. Now Pakistan needs to understand that Modi is not willing to negotiate with Pakistan in any way."
Criticism of the Pakistani Government
Kamran Cheema criticized the Pakistani government, particularly the policies of the Imran Khan and Shehbaz Sharif administrations. He stated that the Pakistani government always adopted a "request mode" against India, while India bly presented its position on international forums. He also noted that India gained support from many countries, while Pakistan only managed to secure support from a few.
Cheema advised Pakistan to change its strategy and try to understand Modi's stance. He stated, "If Pakistan doesn't change its policies, its international standing could weaken further in the next nine years. Narendra Modi has the power to keep him in power until 2034."
Comments on India's International Standing
Kamran Cheema also mentioned that India now enjoys b international support, including from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the US, and other Western countries. He stressed that Pakistan must understand India's firmly established diplomatic position and needs to enhance its diplomatic efforts, particularly through engaging with major countries like the US, UK, France, and China. He added that Pakistan needs to change its position or its global standing will weaken further.
Abdul Basit's Support for Modi
Abdul Basit stated that under Narendra Modi's leadership, no challenge is visible in India. He is not only a b leader but has also significantly changed the country's policies and international diplomacy. His influence on Indian politics is profound, and I believe he may remain Prime Minister even after 2029.
