Weather patterns have shifted across several states in North India. While the beginning of May saw scorching heat and hot winds, the current weather brings welcome relief in the form of b winds, rain, and even hail.

Weather Update: Delhi-NCR is currently experiencing some respite from the heat, thanks to b winds and light rain. The maximum temperature in the capital is currently between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, light clouds are expected in Delhi on May 9th and 10th, with a possibility of thunderstorms and light rain. Temperatures during this period may range from a maximum of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17 to 25 degrees Celsius. However, the heat will not be severely felt due to the humidity and cloud cover, resulting in relatively comfortable weather.

Uttarakhand: Dual Warning of Snowfall and Hail

Weather activity is intensifying in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy snowfall and hail, particularly in mountainous districts such as Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. An orange alert has been issued for these areas, advising people to avoid unnecessary travel.

Plain areas like Dehradun, Tehri, and Haridwar may also experience thunderstorms and rain. Strong winds with speeds of 40-50 km/hour are anticipated, potentially causing damage to trees and weak structures. Considering the possibility of slippery conditions and landslides in mountainous regions, the local administration has instructed rescue teams to remain vigilant.

Rajasthan: Moderate Rain with Gusty Winds and Lightning

Rajasthan has experienced changing weather patterns in recent days, and active weather is expected to continue for the next few days. Thunderstorms are possible in Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur divisions. Dusty winds with speeds of 50-60 km/hour and lightning strikes are anticipated in these areas.

While the weather is expected to gradually clear after May 12th, a temperature rise of 3-5 degrees Celsius is possible. Meteorologists suggest relief from the intense heat this week, but advise farmers to take precautions to protect their crops.

Uttar Pradesh: Daytime Heat, Nighttime Relief

Uttar Pradesh is experiencing contrasting weather conditions: daytime heat and nighttime relief from cool breezes. However, thunderstorms and rain are likely in the western and eastern parts of the state between May 8th and 10th. Major cities like Lucknow, Meerut, Bareilly, Varanasi, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, and Kanpur anticipate thunderstorms and light to moderate rain. This may lead to a slight drop in daytime temperatures. Farmers and the general public are advised to exercise caution regarding lightning and b winds.

Madhya Pradesh: Period of Rain with Stormy Winds

Several districts in Madhya Pradesh are experiencing conditions conducive to thunderstorms and hail. Strong winds (60-70 km/hour) are expected in districts like Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, Ratlam, and Chhindwara. Furthermore, eastern districts such as Jhabua, Mandla, Seoni, and Balaghat have been warned of rain and hail with lightning.

The weather in Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur will also remain variable. People are advised to avoid standing in open areas and maintain a safe distance from trees and electricity poles.
