The Uttarakhand government has decided to include 'Operation Sindur' in the curriculum of madrasas. This will enable over 50,000 students to learn about the bravery and patriotism of the Indian Army through its history.

Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand government has taken a historic and courageous decision. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the state government has decided to include 'Operation Sindur' in the curriculum of all recognized madrasas in the state. The government's intention is to incorporate patriotism, military valor, and the saga of the Indian Army's sacrifices into madrasa education.

Currently, there are approximately 451 registered madrasas in Uttarakhand, with over 50,000 students. All these students will now be exposed to inspiring narratives like Operation Sindur, highlighting the bravery of the Indian Army.

What will the new curriculum include?

The state government has clarified that a full chapter on ‘Operation Sindur’ will be added to the curriculum. It will detail the courageous actions, strategic planning, and dedication to the nation displayed by the Indian Army during the operation. This chapter will not only highlight a historic military event but also instill a sense of patriotism in students.

Operation Sindur: A decisive strike against terror

On the night of May 6-7, the Indian Army launched a precise and daring operation against terrorism under ‘Operation Sindur.’ The Indian Air Force carried out successive strikes on nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

These bases were linked to terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The army's operation reportedly eliminated over 100 terrorists who were planning a major conspiracy against India.

Targeting only terrorists; no civilian casualties

A significant aspect of Operation Sindur was that the Indian Army targeted only terrorist bases, avoiding any attacks on Pakistani military installations or civilians. This exemplifies the precision and discipline of the Indian Army.

Why is this step necessary?

The Uttarakhand government's decision is part of its initiative to incorporate nationalism into education. Madrasa education is generally considered limited to religious teachings; however, now chapters related to patriotism and national security will also be taught.

This will not only inform students about the strength and dedication of the Indian Army but also contribute to their moral and mental development. The state government believes that all students, regardless of their board or background, should understand the nation's history and security policies.

How many madrasas are there in Uttarakhand?

According to Uttarakhand government figures, 451 madrasas are currently registered with the state madrasa board. However, approximately 500 more madrasas operate without registration. The government aims to standardize education and provide all children with uniform nationalist education.
