IPL 2025 Resumes: New Schedule Released After India-Pakistan Ceasefire

Cricket fans rejoice! Good news has emerged regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which was abruptly halted due to the ongoing military tension between India and Pakistan. A new schedule has now been released.

Sports News: The IPL 2025 was temporarily suspended due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. However, a ceasefire has been agreed upon by both nations, leading to hopes of renewed stability in the region. Following this positive development, the IPL Governing Council immediately convened a meeting and finalized the remaining schedule. The tournament will resume on May 17th, with the final match scheduled for June 3rd.

Tensions along the border between India and Pakistan reached a peak a few weeks ago, prompting the immediate suspension of IPL 2025 on the instructions of the central government and security agencies. However, a ceasefire agreement has now been reached between the two countries. Subsequently, the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council, in consultation with security agencies, have decided to resume the tournament.

IPL to Resume on May 17th

The IPL 2025 will restart on May 17th at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing off. This will be followed by the remaining 13 league stage matches, including two double-headers. The final league stage match will be played on May 27th between Lucknow Super Giants and RCB.

Playoff Dates Set

The BCCI has also finalized the dates for the playoff matches. However, the venues for these matches have not yet been announced due to security concerns. The board has stated that the locations will be announced once the security situation stabilizes completely. When the tournament was suspended, Gujarat Titans were at the top of the table with 8 wins out of 11 matches, accumulating 16 points and a net run rate of +0.793.

RCB was second with 16 points but a lower net run rate of +0.482, placing Titans at the top. With the tournament's resumption, other teams still have a chance to secure a spot in the top four.
