England's batsman Joe Root has set a new record in Test cricket. He has created history by becoming the fastest batsman to reach 13,000 runs.

Sports News: England's veteran batsman Joe Root has added another golden feather to his cricketing cap. He has set a new record for the fastest 13,000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved this feat on the first day of the ongoing Test match against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Root reached this milestone in his 153rd Test innings, surpassing the previous record holder, Jacques Kallis, who achieved the feat in 159 innings.

With this record, Joe Root has become the fifth batsman in the world and the first English player to score 13,000 runs in Test cricket. He has also become the highest run-scorer in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC).

Joe Root Breaks Jacques Kallis' Record

Root crossed the 13,000-run mark by scoring a single run off the first ball of the 80th over against Zimbabwe. He needed 28 runs to achieve this milestone, which he accomplished quickly. Previously, this record was held by South Africa's Jacques Kallis, who reached 13,000 runs in 159 innings. Root achieved this six innings earlier, showcasing his skill and consistency.

  • Joe Root (England) – 153 innings
  • Jacques Kallis (South Africa) – 159 innings
  • Rahul Dravid (India) – 160 innings
  • Ricky Ponting (Australia) – 162 innings
  • Sachin Tendulkar (India) – 163 innings

Sachin Tendulkar's Record Now Under Threat

The record for the most runs in Test cricket currently belongs to Sachin Tendulkar, with 15,921 runs. Joe Root has now scored 13,000 runs, and considering his current pace, the possibility of him challenging Sachin's record is increasing. Root has consistently performed well throughout his 13-year career, winning many crucial matches for his team.

  • Sachin Tendulkar (India) – 266 innings
  • Jacques Kallis (South Africa) – 269 innings
  • Ricky Ponting (Australia) – 275 innings
  • Rahul Dravid (India) – 277 innings
  • Joe Root (England) – 279 innings

Joe Root made his Test debut on December 13, 2012, against India in Nagpur. Since then, he has become one of England's most reliable batsmen. Root has scored over 2000 runs against Australia and India in Test matches, and over 1000 runs against New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. His batting displays composure, technique, and match-winning ability.

Root is currently the highest run-scorer in WTC history. He will play a crucial role for England in this season as well. In the upcoming five-match home Test series against India, starting in June, Root is expected to be in top form. In this series, he could also move closer to becoming the second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket. Furthermore, he is close to becoming the first player to score 7000 runs in the WTC.
