Filmmaker Manish Gupta Accused of Stabbing Driver: Prominent Mumbai film director Manish Gupta has been seriously accused of stabbing his driver, Mohammad Lashkar. Mumbai police have officially registered an FIR and launched an investigation. The incident allegedly took place on the evening of June 5th near his office in Versova. It is alleged that an argument arose over a salary dispute, and an enraged Gupta allegedly attacked his driver with a kitchen knife.
The Full Story of the Incident
The complainant, Mohammad Lashkar, had been working as Manish Gupta's driver for approximately three years. Lashkar claims he was not paid regularly. His monthly salary was ₹23,000, but payments were often delayed. In May, his salary was withheld entirely, and he was dismissed on May 30th.
Lashkar called Gupta on June 3rd to demand his outstanding wages. Gupta allegedly stated that the salary would only be paid if Lashkar returned to work. Trusting this, Lashkar returned to work on June 4th. However, around 8:30 PM on June 5th, while both were at the Versova office, Lashkar again raised the issue of his unpaid wages. This angered Gupta.
According to the complaint, Gupta, in a fit of rage, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Lashkar in the right side of his torso. Lashkar was seriously injured but managed to escape.
The Injured Driver's Actions
Following the attack, the injured Lashkar sought help from another driver and the building watchman. With their assistance, Lashkar took an auto-rickshaw to Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle West, where he received treatment. After his condition stabilized, Lashkar filed a complaint against Manish Gupta at the Versova police station.
Police Action and FIR
Based on Mohammad Lashkar's complaint, the Versova police registered a case against Manish Gupta under sections 118(2), 115(2), and 352 of the Indian Penal Code. These charges include causing injury with a dangerous weapon, disturbing the peace, and using abusive language. No arrests have been made yet, and the police investigation is underway.
