UP Accident: A devastating road accident in Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh, has sent shockwaves through the region. On Friday night, a speeding KIA car carrying wedding guests veered off the road and ran over seven members of a single family sleeping by the roadside. This horrific accident resulted in the immediate deaths of a mother and her daughter, while five other family members sustained serious injuries.
Nighttime Accident
The incident occurred near Raghunathpur Bhagwanpur village in Gorakhpur. It is reported that Saida Khatoon, along with her family, was sleeping on a cot outside their home due to the heat. A speeding KIA car returning from a wedding suddenly lost control, veered off the road, and ran over the family.
Mother and Daughter Killed, Five Seriously Injured
In this tragic accident, 30-year-old Saida Khatoon and her 16-year-old daughter, Sufiya, died during treatment. Other family members injured in the accident include:

They are all seriously injured and receiving treatment at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur.
Car Carrying Wedding Guests
According to eyewitnesses, four young men were in the KIA car, returning from a wedding ceremony. The car was traveling at approximately 100 km/hour. At this high speed, the driver lost control, leading to the accident.
Uproar at the Accident Site
Following the accident, an uproar ensued in the village. Angry villagers stopped the car and apprehended one of the occupants, beating him before handing him over to the police. The villagers also seized the car. Additional police force had to be deployed from Gulriha and Chiluatol police stations to bring the situation under control.
Police Seize Car
Police seized the car with the help of a crane and detained one youth. SP City Abhinav Tyagi stated that two people died in the accident and the injured are undergoing treatment. He added that an investigation into the accident is underway and action will soon be taken against other responsible individuals.
