The Miller Couple Caught in the Trump-Musk Feud

America: The escalating political tension between former US President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk is now causing ripples within Washington D.C. Caught in the crossfire is a high-profile power couple, Stephen Miller and Katie Miller. While Stephen remains a trusted advisor to Trump, his wife, Katie, has aligned herself with Musk.

Stephen Miller: A Key Figure in Trump's Team

Stephen Miller is considered a close and staunch supporter of Trump. He held significant positions in the Trump administration, including National Security Advisor and Policy Director. Since Trump's 2016 victory, he played a prominent role in the White House, shaping anti-immigration policies, the Muslim ban, and a nationalistic agenda.

Katie Miller Sides with Musk

While Stephen stands with Trump, his wife, Katie Miller, has chosen to join Elon Musk's team. Katie previously served as press secretary for former Vice President Mike Pence and was, until recently, part of the White House communications department.

She resigned from that position to accept an advisory role in Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Following Musk's departure from DOGE in May 2025, Katie also left the White House and now heads communications for Musk's companies, Tesla and SpaceX.

Open Support for Musk on X (Twitter)

Katie Miller now openly praises Musk's ideology and vision. On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), she consistently posts in support of Musk and promotes updates related to Tesla and SpaceX.

According to a White House official, Katie was informed she could not work simultaneously with both Trump and Musk. She had to choose, and she chose Musk.

Stephen Demonstrates Loyalty to Trump

While Katie has sided with Musk, Stephen has reaffirmed his allegiance to Trump, strengthening his role in supporting Trump's policies. In response, Musk unfollowed Stephen on X, confirming the growing animosity between the two camps.

Trump-Musk Clashes

A major source of friction between Trump and Musk centers on EV policy. The Trump administration is proposing a bill that would eliminate tax breaks for electric vehicles (EVs). Under the Biden administration, a $7,500 tax credit was available for EV purchases. Trump aims to eliminate this incentive.

This proposal could significantly harm Musk's Tesla, as the credit is not available to companies that sold over 200,000 EVs between 2009 and 2025. Tesla has already surpassed this figure.

NASA Appointment Dispute Further Increases Tension

Adding to Musk's displeasure is Trump's rejection of his recommendation to appoint his close associate, Jared Isaacman, to a key position at NASA. Musk wanted Isaacman to become NASA Administrator, which would strategically benefit SpaceX. However, Trump disregarded his recommendation.
