A minor argument in Farrukhnagar town took a horrifying turn when a young man was shot during a dispute over buying samosas. The victim is hospitalized in critical condition, while the main accused remains at large.
Uttar Pradesh: A seemingly trivial argument over samosas in Farrukhnagar town escalated into violence, creating a tense atmosphere in the area. According to reports, an argument between two groups over buying samosas escalated into a shooting. A young man was seriously injured in the incident and immediately admitted to a local hospital. His condition is reported to be critical. The main accused has been absconding since the incident, and the police are searching for him.
Dispute Escalates Over Line Jumping
The incident occurred on Monday at a popular tea and samosa stall in Farrukhnagar. Eyewitnesses say Amit (24) was standing in line to buy samosas when another young man, allegedly from an influential family in the area, attempted to jump the queue. A verbal altercation ensued, escalating into a physical fight and ultimately a shooting.
The alleged assailant pulled out a pistol and fired directly at Amit, who fell to the ground injured. Locals immediately rushed him to the hospital.
Main Accused Absconding, Family Fears for Safety
The accused fled the scene after the incident. The victim's family alleges that the main accused enjoys political protection, which is why the police have not been able to arrest him yet. Vishal, the victim's brother, stated, "We are ordinary people. We want justice, but the accused is roaming freely. Our family is in danger. If the administration remains silent, we will be forced to take action ourselves."
Questions Raised Over Police Action
Although the police have registered a case and detained two others, the failure to arrest the main accused has caused outrage among the locals. The station house officer stated that raids are being conducted at the accused's potential hideouts and an arrest will be made soon. However, the family claims that "mere statements won't deliver justice; if pressure isn't put on the police, the accused will destroy evidence."
On Tuesday, the victim's family and hundreds of local residents staged a protest outside the SDM office, stating that if the accused is not arrested within 48 hours, they will block the main road. The village headman warned the administration that law and order has deteriorated in the village. He stated that shootings are occurring over trivial matters, and the administration is only offering assurances. This is no longer tolerable.
Social Tension and Fear
Since the incident, an atmosphere of fear has gripped the town. Markets are deserted, and many shops have temporarily closed. Villagers say that if such incidents continue, the atmosphere in Farrukhnagar could worsen. The SDM of Farrukhnagar appealed to the protesters to maintain peace and said, "No matter how powerful the criminal is, they cannot escape the law. Police teams are working, and justice will be served soon."
