Why Dino Morea's Interrogation?

According to the police, several phone call records between Dino Morea, his brother Santino Morea, and the main accused, Ketan Kadam, have been found, which are considered crucial to the investigation. EOW officials stated that investigators are trying to ascertain the nature of the conversations between Dino Morea and his brother and Ketan Kadam, and their possible connection to the scam.

Investigators stated that Dino Morea's name surfaced during the scrutiny of call records and financial transactions of the accused. Therefore, the actor was questioned to investigate his potential financial dealings and his role in the case. Currently, the police are investigating the matter, and further action will be decided soon.

The Mithi River Scam: What is it?

The Mithi River Scam is a major corruption scandal in Mumbai involving financial irregularities within the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Storm Water Drains (SWD) department. The case alleges that the corporation charged exorbitant and unjustified prices for the rental of de-silting machines and dredging equipment.

The main accused, Ketan Kadam, and co-accused Jay Joshi, procured the machinery from Kochi-based company, Matprop Technical Services Private Limited. The investigation revealed fraudulent activities in the rental and purchase of the machines while making payments to the BMC. This involved collusion between Matprop officials and relevant BMC department employees.

According to the police, this scam involves crores of rupees, encompassing the misuse of public funds and widespread corruption. The irregularities in the machinery and services procured for the Mithi River project, part of Mumbai's flood control plan, not only caused financial losses but also compromised the project's credibility.
