The Beating Retreat Ceremony, suspended at Amritsar's Attari border, Fazilka, and Firozpur since May 7th due to recent India-Pakistan tensions, is resuming.
Fazilka: The patriotic echoes of the Beating Retreat Ceremony will once again resonate along the India-Pakistan border. The ceremony, suspended for a considerable period, is restarting at the Fazilka border on Tuesday. The Border Security Force (BSF) has officially confirmed this. Uncertainty remains regarding the resumption at Attari and Firozpur borders. However, sources suggest that orders for preparations have been issued at the Attari border, and its resumption may be announced soon.
Why was the Retreat Ceremony Suspended?
It is noteworthy that, following escalating tensions between India and Pakistan since May 7th, the Beating Retreat Ceremony was temporarily suspended at Attari border in Amritsar, along with Fazilka and Firozpur borders. This directly impacted small shopkeepers and the local tourism industry along the border. The daily influx of thousands of tourists dropped to zero, visibly affecting the local economy.
The Parade's Sounds Will Echo Again in Fazilka
The BSF in Fazilka has announced that the Beating Retreat Ceremony will be held regularly from Tuesday at 6 PM. Spectators are advised to arrive at the venue by 5:30 PM. Security and arrangements for spectators are being tightened this time. BSF officials view this event as a new beginning.
No clear date has yet been announced for the resumption of the ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border, considered one of the most famous locations for the Beating Retreat. However, the BSF has received internal instructions for preparations. This indicates that an official announcement regarding the ceremony's resumption at Attari may be made in the coming days.
