BJP Launches Waqf Reform Awareness Campaign Targeting Pasmanda Muslims

BJP to Launch Waqf Reform Awareness Campaign on April 19th, Aiming to Benefit Pasmanda Muslims. A four-member committee has been formed for this purpose.

Lucknow – The BJP is launching a major awareness campaign in Uttar Pradesh regarding Waqf Law Reforms. Starting April 19th, the campaign aims to dispel misconceptions surrounding the Waqf Act and highlight its benefits, particularly for the Pasmanda Muslim community.

Communication with Minorities to Change Perceptions

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is focusing on the economically weaker section of the Muslim community—the Pasmanda Muslims. The party leadership believes that until now, only a powerful 5% have benefited from Waqf properties, while the new law will allow these properties to be used for developing facilities such as hospitals, schools, and housing for the poor across all religions.

Top Leaders to Spearhead the Campaign

A four-member committee, comprising Triyambak Tripathi, Shiv Bhushan Singh, Kunwar Basit Ali, and Akhilesh Kumar, has been formed to ensure the smooth running of this campaign. The campaign will be launched on April 19th with a state-level workshop at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath.

Senior BJP leaders, including national co-convenor Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, state president Bhupendra Chaudhary, and organization general secretary Dharmpal Singh, will also participate in the workshop.

Pamphlets on Waqf Law Reforms to be Distributed

Specifically designed brochures and digital soft copies have been prepared for this campaign, which activists will distribute via mobile phones. This material will explain the technical benefits and practical impact of the Waqf Act in simple language.

'Public Dialogue' to Counter Opposition

Following criticism of the Waqf Act from Muslim organizations and opposition parties, the BJP has adopted a direct communication strategy with the public. The party believes that, as with issues like CAA-NRC, if correct information is not disseminated promptly, misunderstandings can deepen. Therefore, the party is working on a strategy to weaken this opposition at the grassroots level by deploying its Minority Morcha.
