India Condemns Pakistan's Hypocrisy on Terrorism at UN

India Condemns Pakistan's Hypocrisy on Terrorism at the UN, Citing Attacks on Civilians and Places of Worship.

India-Pak: A recent open debate on "Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict" was held at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The aim was to foster global discussion on the safety of civilians, humanitarian workers, journalists, and UN personnel in conflict zones.

During this debate, India bly criticized Pakistan, stating that a nation that fails to distinguish between civilians and terrorists has no right to speak on this issue. India asserted that Pakistan's participation in the discussion was an affront to the international community.

Ambassador Harish Puri Calls Out Pakistan

India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Harish Puri, launched a scathing attack on Pakistan, asserting its lack of legitimacy to comment on the sensitive issue of "civilian protection."

He stated, "I am compelled to respond to the baseless accusations leveled against India by the Pakistani representative. For decades, India has faced Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, resulting in the loss of thousands of innocent civilian lives."

Strong Condemnation of Attacks on Places of Worship and Hospitals

Ambassador Puri cited recent events, highlighting that in early May 2025, the Pakistani army deliberately targeted Indian border villages, killing over 20 civilians and injuring more than 80. He noted that attacks also targeted places of worship, including Gurdwaras, temples, and convents, as well as hospitals.

Puri declared, "For a nation to preach morality after perpetrating such attacks is the height of hypocrisy."

From 26/11 to the Pulwama Attack

India reiterated its decades-long suffering from terrorism, citing instances such as the 26/11 Mumbai attack in 2008 and the brutal killing of innocent tourists in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, in April 2025, emphasizing that civilians consistently bear the brunt of these attacks.

The Ambassador accused Pakistan of using civilians as shields to promote terrorism, citing examples of senior Pakistani government, police, and military officials paying tributes at the funerals of slain terrorists, demonstrating a lack of distinction between terrorists and civilians.

India's Stern Warning

Puri reiterated that Pakistan should introspect on its own role before commenting on civilian protection. He asserted that a nation that weaponizes terrorism as a tool of foreign policy cannot lecture on morality on any international platform.
