Administration Demolishes 57-Year-Old Illegal Madrasa in Maharajganj using Bulldozers.
UP News: In Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh, India, authorities demolished a 57-year-old illegal madrasa near the India-Nepal border using bulldozers. A team from the Frenda tehsil administration, employing four bulldozers, razed the structure within minutes. A significant police force was deployed, but no incidents were reported.
Strict Administrative Action Against Illegal Encroachments
The madrasa was illegally occupying government land designated as a "Khad Gaddha" (fertilizer pit) in Dharachi village. The structure comprised both permanent buildings and open spaces used as fields. Upon the matter coming to the administration's attention, the revenue department launched an investigation. Following a report from the Lekhpal (village accountant), immediate action was taken, resulting in the demolition.
Continuous Crackdown on Illegal Religious Institutions in UP's Border Districts
This action by the Maharajganj district administration is part of the Uttar Pradesh government's policy to remove illegal encroachments and unauthorized religious institutions near the state's borders. Under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, bulldozers are being consistently deployed in such areas. This campaign is ongoing in districts including Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Pilibhit.
To date, 29 madrasas, 5 mazars (shrines), and several mosques have been demolished in Maharajganj. Similarly, statewide action has been taken against 225 madrasas, 30 mosques, 25 mazars, and 6 Eidgahs. This campaign aims to eliminate illegal encroachments and protect government land.
