Maharashtra: The 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' in Maharashtra has recently been the subject of much discussion. Due to some accusations from the opposition, rumors spread that the government was planning to discontinue the scheme or reduce the financial assistance provided. However, the state's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, has completely refuted these claims, clarifying that the scheme will not be stopped under any circumstances and will continue.
What is the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana?
The 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana' is a crucial initiative of the Maharashtra government, aimed at women's empowerment and financial support. Under this scheme, eligible women receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 to meet their daily expenses and achieve financial stability. This scheme is being implemented under the state's Maha Vikas Aghadi government and is proving helpful in improving the living standards of women.
Opposition Allegations and Rumors
For some time, the opposition has been claiming that the government is not increasing the amount provided under this scheme and will soon discontinue it. The opposition argues that, as per pre-election promises, the monthly assistance should have been increased to ₹2,100, but the government has failed to fulfill this promise. Consequently, the opposition has targeted the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, accusing it of failing to keep its electoral promises.
Deputy CM Eknath Shinde's Response
Addressing the issue on Sunday, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde appealed to the public not to believe the rumors. He clearly stated that the 'Ladki Bahin Yojana' will not be discontinued under any circumstances. Shinde emphasized that his double-engine government is committed to its promises and that the public should stay away from any misinformation.
He stated, "The Ladki Bahins should not pay attention to rumors. Our government will continue this scheme completely. We fulfill our promises and clear up any misunderstandings."
