The Uttar Pradesh (UP) cabinet has taken significant decisions to boost investment in the state. This includes approving 10 investment proposals, including one from Haldiram Industries, strengthening the state's economic activities.
UP Cabinet Meeting: The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh, in its recent cabinet meeting, made several crucial decisions for the development and welfare of the state. The meeting discussed 11 proposals, of which 10 were approved. A landmark decision was taken to grant Agniveers a 20% horizontal reservation in police recruitment. The cabinet also greenlit a significant ₹662 crore investment project by Haldiram Snacks in Noida.
Furthermore, several proposals aimed at strengthening the Public Distribution System (PDS), innovating in the tourism sector, and promoting investment were also approved.
20% Reservation and Age Relaxation for Agniveers in Police Recruitment
The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step to honor Agniveers and secure their future. The cabinet decided to provide Agniveers with 20% horizontal reservation in police recruitment. This reservation will be equally applicable across all categories: SC, ST, OBC, and General. Additionally, Agniveers will receive a three-year relaxation in the upper age limit for recruitment.
This decision is a unique initiative by UP compared to other states and central security forces, where Agniveers typically receive only up to 10% reservation. This move is considered a major achievement for the socio-economic empowerment of Agniveers. This decision will not only help Agniveers secure jobs but also provide them with respect and recognition in society.
Haldiram's Major Project Approved
Several important proposals were also passed in the cabinet meeting to promote investment. The ₹662 crore investment project of Haldiram Snacks, to be established in Noida, was approved. This investment will not only create employment opportunities but also contribute to the state's economic prosperity. Five other companies will also receive financial incentives.
The Minister of Industries, Nandi, stated that the proposals accepted under 'Invest UP' are now being implemented, effectively countering opposition allegations. A consensus was also reached on proposals from six companies, including ACC in Sonbhadra, which will further accelerate the state's industrial development. All these steps will improve the industrial investment climate in Uttar Pradesh and increase employment opportunities.
2000 Annapurna Buildings to Strengthen the Public Distribution System
The government has also made large-scale efforts to provide the general public with affordable and accessible rations. At least 75 Annapurna buildings will be constructed in every district of the state, from where beneficiaries can receive rations at government rates. Currently, the construction of two thousand Annapurna buildings is underway. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna stated that this project will further strengthen the state's food security and will be instrumental in delivering nutritious food to poor families.
Tourism Sector to be Reshaped
The Tourism Department proposed allowing 'Home Stay Lodges' to promote small-scale tourism accommodation facilities in the state, which the cabinet approved. Now, home stay lodges with one to six rooms can be built in Uttar Pradesh. Permission for these home stays will be granted by the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police/Senior Superintendent of Police (SP/SSP).
This initiative will be crucial in boosting tourism in the state's rural and smaller towns. It will also provide local people with additional income sources and offer tourists affordable and comfortable accommodation options.
Yogi Government's Holistic Development Approach
Through these decisions, the Yogi Adityanath government has made it clear that continuous efforts are being made for the development of the state as well as the upliftment of marginalized sections of society. The step of providing reservation and age relaxation to Agniveers in employment is a vivid example of this. Along with this, these decisions taken towards promoting industries, strengthening the public distribution system, and expanding tourism will propel Uttar Pradesh towards rapid development.
