UP News: It will now be difficult for adulterators and those involved in the fake medicine trade to escape in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made it clear that anyone tampering with public health will be publicly shamed. Their photographs will be displayed at every major intersection in the state so that people can identify them, sending a b message against such activities within society.
Tampering with Public Health Will Not Be Tolerated: Yogi Adityanath
In a high-level meeting of the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) on Wednesday, CM Yogi instructed that testing of daily consumable items like oil, ghee, spices, milk, and paneer should be conducted at the production unit itself. He stated, “Adulteration and the fake medicine trade are crimes against society. This directly affects people's health, and no compromise will be made.”
Direct Strike Against the Fake Medicine and Adulteration Trade
CM Yogi told officials to identify adulterators and fake medicine traders, dismantle their networks, and display their photographs at intersections to send a negative message within society. This will raise public awareness and publicly identify the offenders.
Special Focus on Dairy Products; Formation of Inspection Teams
The Chief Minister has directed the formation of special teams to conduct intensive checks on milk and milk products. These teams will regularly inspect markets and production units. Yogi clarified that the health of the common public is the government's top priority, and no negligence will be tolerated.
Rapid Expansion of Drug and Food Testing Laboratories
The meeting revealed that the network of food and drug testing laboratories in Uttar Pradesh has been rapidly expanded. New laboratories have been established in several places, including Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Meerut, and Varanasi. This will enable faster food and drug testing. The Chief Minister also suggested creating a 'corpus fund' for the maintenance of these laboratories.
Joint Action with Police and Administration
The Chief Minister directed increased coordination between the police and administration to curb the fake medicine trade. Instructions were also given to ensure the quality and transparency of enforcement actions. Yogi stated that every action should be impartial and scientific.
Improved Complaint Resolution Process
To strengthen public participation, the 'Food Safety Connect' mobile app and the toll-free number 1800-180-5533 have been made available. Yogi said that complaint resolution will only be considered valid when the complainant is satisfied.
FSDA Capacity Enhancement
The Chief Minister was also informed that investment proposals worth ₹1,470 crore have been received in the last three years, providing employment to thousands. Yogi directed strengthening the organizational capacity of the FSDA and filling vacant positions promptly.
