AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Condemns Pakistan's Support for Terrorism in Algeria

Owaisi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Member of Parliament from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, launched a b attack on Pakistan's double standards regarding its support for terrorism. Currently in Algeria with an all-party parliamentary delegation, he addressed the Indian community, exposing Pakistan's policies that provide refuge to terrorists. Owaisi clarified that Islamabad's policies of providing sanctuary to terrorists are increasing instability not only in South Asia but also globally.

Terrorist Lakhvi Fathers Child While Imprisoned

In his address, Owaisi cited the example of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, a notorious Pakistani terrorist, illustrating how, despite being a terrorist, he fathered a child while in prison. Owaisi stated that no country allows terrorists such freedoms; Pakistan's actions are shocking to the world.

He also noted that when Pakistan was placed on the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) grey list, it initiated some actions. This demonstrates that without international pressure, Pakistan's actions remain limited and lukewarm.

Appeal to Re-include Pakistan on FATF Grey List

Owaisi stressed the necessity of reinstating Pakistan on the FATF grey list to curb terror financing from the country and reduce terrorist incidents in India. FATF is an international organization that monitors terrorist financial networks. Owaisi emphasized that this issue is not confined to India or South Asia but poses a threat to the entire world. With India being the world's fourth-largest economy, the threat could escalate if Pakistan is not brought under control.

Controlling Pakistan Crucial for South Asian Stability

Owaisi warned that Pakistan is the biggest sponsor of terrorism, and controlling it has become essential for global peace. He clarified that terrorism is rooted in two things—ideology and money. Ideology fuels the spread of terrorism, while money sustains it. He mentioned India's experience with the devastating consequences of terrorism.

Cooperation Against Terrorism in Algeria

Owaisi stated that the problem of terrorism affects not only India but also countries like Algeria. He noted that terrorism causes problems in Southern Algeria and that India stands with the Algerian people on this issue. He emphasized increased cooperation in this region to strengthen the global fight against terrorism.

Growing Ties Between India and Algeria

Owaisi also commended the growing relationship between India and Algeria. He mentioned that in November 2024, both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the defense sector. This agreement will further strengthen mutual cooperation and strategic ties. Owaisi expressed hope that the Indian Prime Minister will soon visit Algeria, and the Algerian President will visit India, further deepening the friendly relations between the two countries.
