Intense Heatwave Sweeping Across India; Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan on High Alert

A heatwave is intensifying across India, with the meteorological department forecasting higher temperatures and heatwave conditions in the coming days. Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan are expected to be particularly affected, causing significant discomfort to residents.

Weather Update: Delhi-NCR is experiencing a resurgence of intense heat. While temperatures in the capital and surrounding areas had remained between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius for the past few days, they have now climbed to 39 degrees Celsius. According to the meteorological department, the heat will persist on May 13th, with partly cloudy skies. Winds are expected to blow at 15-35 kilometers per hour, offering some respite, but the heat will remain impactful.

Scorching Heat and Heatwave Threat in Delhi-NCR

Temperatures in Delhi-NCR have once again begun to rise. While they had been between 25-35 degrees Celsius for the past few days, they have now reached 39 degrees Celsius. The meteorological department anticipates a maximum temperature between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius on May 13th. Partly cloudy skies and winds ranging from 15 to 35 kilometers per hour are also expected.

The meteorological department further predicts a temperature increase between May 14th and 17th. Maximum temperatures could reach 39-41 degrees Celsius, and minimum temperatures 27-30 degrees Celsius. Winds are expected to blow at 10-30 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, according to private weather agencies, a second heatwave spell might hit Delhi between May 15th and 17th, potentially pushing temperatures to 42-44 degrees Celsius. However, no rainfall is predicted for Delhi-NCR until May 25th, exacerbating the heatwave.

Rising Temperatures in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is also experiencing a change in weather patterns. The likelihood of rain and gusty winds has diminished, leading to a potential increase in heat. Meteorologists predict a temperature rise of 2-4 degrees Celsius over the next 4-5 days, potentially creating heatwave conditions. Temperatures might increase further after May 14th, intensifying the heatwave. Currently, the weather in the western and eastern parts of the state is clear.

Heatwave Alert in Bihar: Warning for 8 Districts

Bihar is also experiencing the effects of intense heat. The meteorological department has issued a heatwave alert for 8 districts: Patna, Gopalganj, Saran, West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheikhpura, Bhagalpur, and Banka. Other districts may also experience temperatures 5 degrees Celsius above normal. A yellow alert has been issued for these districts, advising people to take precautions against the heat. There is a possibility of rain in these areas on May 15th, which may provide some relief.

Severe Heatwave in Rajasthan

Rajasthan is bracing for a severe heatwave. The meteorological department forecasts a temperature increase from May 13th, marking the beginning of a new heatwave. While some areas in Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions might experience gusty winds and light to moderate rain, a temperature increase is still anticipated. Bikaner's temperature has already reached 42.3 degrees Celsius and is expected to rise further.
